Now it isn't OK to protect your property? Someone who has chosen to not respect personal property does not deserve to be treated with any respect and it is a gain for society if they are no longer around.

Guys stops men from stealing his car by shooting at one of the theives and now is charged with first-degree murder? All I know is the right thing is to not prosecute the man at all and it will send quite a signal to potential car theives. Doing nothing to the car owner would be the best thing possible to reduce theft.
