"Enough of Reagan, let's get back to doom and gloom!"

Nice to know that major players in the press are thinking that the death of a great man like President Ronald Reagan is getting too much play. They want to get back on task, which is defeating President George W. Bush in November. How can they possibly do that with more and more images of 'the Gipper'?

Dan Rather is blunt when he lets out what he wants:

"There is other news, like the reality of Iraq," said the "CBS Evening News" anchor. "It got very short shrift this weekend."

No, the networks would never go overboard on dwelling on the problems in Iraq. But, funny thing about Rather's statement. He wants to talk about the "reality" of Iraq? Hmmm..that would be a first. The only Iraq they want to talk about is the one where Americans get killed, Iraqi innocents are tortured by coalition soldiers and the residents pine for the good ol' days under Saddam. The reality of a freed people, growing economy, ending of the UN-endorsed oil-for-food scam, and beginning of a democratic government are given the 'shortest shrift' possible, i.e. ignored.
